In 2024, I started the journey to becoming a registered pharmacy technician in Canada. This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for getting my chronic illnesses under better control.

Year 1, Semester 1

This past Thursday I had an orientation for the program I'm going to be taking in the fall. Although it was online, there were lots of emotions and sensations that were arising. Join me as I talk about what I was feeling. Also, I said in my last video that I wanted to talk about life being gluten free a bit more so I do that as I make my lunch.

From this point forward, I am going to be trying to upload weekly vlogs. Dosage calculations are one of the things I am trying to get ahead with for my program that starts in the fall. I take you through a couple of problems and show you how I do them.

This week marks a transitionary period as I finish my last few days of work and start looking forward to school. I talk about how I am feeling with this big change and what scares me about this major change as well.

A four-day week totally counts as a week right? Well, minus labour day, it's the first full week of classes of online school for becoming a pharmacy technician in Saskatchewan and in Canada.

Anatomy and Physiology has been a crazy amount of information and the section I am currently studying is quite the load. Also in this vlog, I cover the steps after graduation from the pharmacy tech program and share about some minor headaches that I've been dealing with that are unrelated to my migraines.

It's midterm time which means I feel like I am just barely hanging on. It's an extremely stressful time which means not much vlogging is taking place and the vlogging that is means, I may not look my best. Despite going through the awakening process, my body is not immune to the impact of stress.

Wondering what awaits me after graduation from the program I am in or what it takes to call yourself a registered pharmacy technician in Saskatchewan? Here is an overview of the process!

It's almost time to start semester two and I haven't hardly looked at anything since finishing exams a few weeks ago. Join me as I take you through what classes I'll be taking, doing some cleanup, and looking at what lies ahead for the next few months.

As many of you are aware, I start school in the fall. What you may not know is I am doing my first year almost completely online. Over the past week, I've been gathering some things I will need for the fall. I share my setup and what I have gotten so far. This video is not sponsored and any of the items I have picked are from long periods of research or top suggestions from others on online reviews.

This is a continuation from last week's vlog where I am officially able to say I am registered for classes. So many things happened this particular week that I decided to split the vlog up into two parts.

It's that time where I have my last day of work and start preparing to be in online school. I take you through the prep work for getting ready for what will be the first step in becoming a registered technician in Saskatchewan.

It's only the second full week of classes and the exams are coming at me in full force.

With a very busy program, staying organized is important. I do this with many schedules, planners and sticky notes that keep what is a priority right in front of me.

This week was not an easy one at all. Between feeling like I was drowning with group projects to not feeling ready for a bigger exam, it was a lot of ups and downs emotionally. Part of my goal with these videos is to show the ups and downs of the path not only for others but to remind myself that there will be both good and bad times.

As of now, there are two weeks remaining until my first semester is done. Here's an update and my thoughts heading into one of the most stressful exams I've ever had to write.

After three weeks off in between semesters, it's time to get back to it with semester two of my first year of pharmacy technician school. I share my thoughts about the new semester and also what I focused on during the first week.

Year 1, Semester 2

As you all know by now, I am going back to school in the fall. Many of you might be wondering how I am feeling about going back to school. Here's how I am feeling as of right now.

When I walked across the stage six years ago after completing my biochemistry degree, I never thought I'd ever be doing this again. At the end of August, I am starting the process towards becoming a registered pharmacy technician. The first step is completing a two-year diploma program. I show the supplies I got for school as I prepare to shift into another major change to my routine and life.

Here we go! I share how the first couple of days of classes went. I share what I was learning and a bit more organizing as I learn how to manage this new routine.

I am less than a month into classes and it's already time for final exams? Also, I spend this vlog also talking a bit more about what I'm taking in my classes. Included is more about Canada's Healthcare System and how we regulate medications as well as what the difference is between pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants since it's such a common question that I get asked about.

It's been another busy week as the middle of the semester is here. I also share my experience with a vestibular migraine and a couple of amazing nights of viewing and photographing northern lights.

I get asked the difference between pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants by so many people and these terms are not similar. I use this week to go through some of the major differences as to what I can do now at work and what becoming a registered technician will allow me to do once I have completed all of my training. I hope this helps.

My first semester is now done. Did I manage to pass the must pass exam and what are my thoughts after finishing my first semester of pharmacy technician schooling in Canada?
